Goodbye From Franklins: Closing after 26 Years

Dear Customers and Friends,

After more than 26 memorable years, we’re writing to share some important news about Franklins.

Our final day of service will be Sunday 19th April. Rod has decided (some might say belatedly!) that it’s finally time to retire, and it feels like the right moment for us to close this chapter. Franklins has been a huge part of our lives for over two decades and we feel incredibly lucky to have shared it with such a loyal and supportive community.

Over the years, what has meant the most to us has been the people: the regulars who have become friends, the families who have celebrated milestones here, and everyone who has walked through our doors and made the restaurant what it is. We are deeply grateful for all the support and enthusiasm you’ve shown us since we opened.

We’re also pleased to share that Franklins will not simply disappear. A small group of long-time customers have come together with the owner of The Begging Bowl to take on the space and relaunch it as The Victory, the name of the original pub. While details will follow from them in due course, we’re delighted that the restaurant will continue in new hands and remain part of the Dulwich community. They are also keeping nearly all of the staff, so there will be lots of familiar faces.

Before we close, we have one final event to look forward to; our Spring Wine Tasting Evening on Tuesday 14th April at 7:30pm. It will be a relaxed evening of carefully chosen wines paired with seasonal dishes, and it feels like a fitting way to celebrate the end of our time here. We would love to see as many familiar faces as possible.

If you’d like to join us for the tasting or for dinner before we close, please do book - we expect the final weeks to be busy.

Thank you again for being part of the Franklins’ story. It has truly meant the world to us.

With our warmest thanks,
Tim and Rod
